Interface: EnglishDocuments retain their original language

Provenance & preservation

About this local edition

Reading the historical archive

This is a local archival reading edition of public material captured from EHREA (ehrea.org) ↗. It is not an announcement of new official publishing activity. Source documents retain their original words, languages, historical allegations and authorship where recorded. Claims are those of the respective sources.

Source credit and rights

EHREA is the source archive. Copyright notices and source credits remain with EHREA and the respective authors and rights holders. Capture and reformatting do not transfer rights or imply endorsement. Individual document pages link to their original source and display retrieval and preservation metadata. Original source notices contained within captured text remain visible.

What has changed

HTML readers are rebuilt from source content as consistent articles: headings, paragraphs, quotations, lists, figures and labeled records. Original table relationships and source anchors are retained without inherited table layout. Legacy scripts, forms, Flash and unsafe embeds are removed from the reading edition. Raw responses are retained separately for audit and never served as active HTML. Original PDF files are copied without rewriting; your browser supplies their viewer.

Shared passages and original documents

Repeated passages are indexed locally and referenced with their own source context. Distinct documents, editions and languages retain their separate pages and unique text. Related-passage navigation emphasizes longer passages; the complete index also retains short source blocks.

Collections and dates

Collection groupings come from supplied source categories or captured index pages with at least ten internal document references. Useful display titles come from actual source evidence; original labels remain in preservation details. These are navigation groupings, not new editorial claims. The catalog displays dates and authors only where source metadata supplies them. Retrieval time is separate from a document's historical date. Language labels use capture's script heuristic and may need review. No translations or document summaries have been invented.

English and Tigrinya

The interface switch changes navigation labels only. It does not translate source documents. Mixed-language material is retained. The Tigrinya interface is a draft subject to native review; no external human review is claimed. A self-hosted Noto Sans Ethiopic font is supplied under the SIL Open Font License.

Offline and external references

Captured documents, first-party assets and search work on a local static HTTP server without an internet connection. Links marked ↗ lead to original sources or other sites and require network access. External articles, videos, images and PDF references have not been mirrored or auto-loaded. Original dead links remain catalog references with their captured status.

Coverage

This build uses immutable user-provided local generations. Provisional snapshots remain visibly labeled until the user explicitly confirms source completion. Read its file inventory, original-byte manifests and explicit unavailable references. Valid earlier captured material is reused through canonical deduplication; incomplete live-frontier diagnostics remain supplemental provenance.

This interface describes the supplied catalog, not a guarantee that every source file exists. Unlinked files cannot be discovered by following public navigation. Errors, pending URLs, policy exclusions and safety limits belong in the capture coverage reports. No unreadable source is replaced with fabricated text.
