[] Zer'u Beidu. Former ELF military commander, senior cadre and diplomat (ELF-UO rep in Syria). [] Upon Eritrea's Independence he returned to Asmara as member of a former ELF group that included such veterans as Saleh Iyay, where he joined the new EPLF-led government. [] He was subsequently assigned in the security office in Keren and later at the Eritrean embassy in Nairobi before being sidelined (frozen is the term used by the regime). [] Arrested by the Eritrean government's security in 2006. [] Released in May 2014 severely disabled, suffering memory loss and speech impairment. [] Died on 31 August 2014 as a result of the torture he suffered in prison.
